From the Head of Senior School
This week sees the final HSC examinations concluding on Friday – with Food Technology and Design and Technology the last papers. I am sure all graduating Year 12 students are relieved that they have finished and can take pride in the calm and focused approach they took into their examinations. They can all now look forward to some lovely holiday break time and we wish those travellers a safe and happy journey.
Next week our new Year 12 students will be able to enjoy a return to ‘normal’ levels of noise and movement around the KM building as we begin to plan our Christmas and end of year festivities. Once again, I sincerely thank the new Year 12s for their supportive and thoughtful manner while the HSC exams were being completed.

In Directions in Weeks 4 and 5, Year 12 students are involved in Motivational Mapping. Led by Kathryn Taylor of Turning Point Consulting, Motivational Mapping seeks to identify strengths and purposes in individuals, teams and organisations.
We asked two prefects, Eloise and Sasha, to share their insights.
Motivational Mapping is targeted to help participants understand their leadership styles and provide students with the chance to better ascertain this both individually and as a collective cohort. The survey enables students to gain some introspective insight about their strengths and weaknesses in a team or working environment. It encourages individuals to be more self-aware and recognise what motivates them in all facets of life.
The surveys reveal accurate results due to the nature of the questions posed. Each motivator is separated into the overarching categories of Relationship, Achievement or Growth. Within these, nine subcategories of motivators enable each individual student to feel aligned with their prescribed motivator, to understand what roles suit students best in both collaborative tasks and future careers.
These include: The Defender, The Friend, The Star, The Director, The Builder, The Expert, The Creator, The Spirit and The Searcher. This survey not only gives the students the opportunity to grasp their leadership styles, but also to gain a deeper understanding of how to learn effectively and determine possible future pathways. This valuable opportunity enabled the Year 12 Cohort to gain unique perspective into themselves, in preparation for their journey into life beyond school.
