On Saturday 5 November our Pymble 1 team came up against Abbotsleigh. Both Pymble and Abbotsleigh are the only school teams in the North Sydney Competition, so the team were keen to get a victory against our rivals. With bat in hand, Amber Wang (Year 8) and Lauren Carruthers (Year 10) scored well and set a defendable run total. Defending our score proved easier said than done, the Abbotsleigh batting line-up was destructive and chased down our run total. Our players did their best and made noticeable improvements from their previous match, however, it was not enough and Abbotsleigh took the victory.

Pymble 2 faced an experienced Lindfield team and were looking forward to the opportunity to cause an upset. Sophie Webster (Year 7) scored a whopping 17 runs, closely followed by Abani Dhaliwal (Year 7), Anjali Shah (Year 7), Charlotte Henderson (Year 7) Amelia Watson (Year 7) and Brielle McDonald (Year 7) who all contributed to the run score. Our team were impressive in their bowling attack: wicket takers were Sophie Webster (Year 7), Brielle McDonald (Year 7) who took a fantastic “caught and bowled” wicket, Laranya Nanthakumaran (Year 7), Abani Dhaliwal (Year 7) and Amelia Watson (Year 7). Unfortunately, this was not enough and after a fantastic effort Lindfield chased down our run total and got the victory on the day.

A great effort from all players! You are all improving week after week!
