From the Senior School
From the Head of Senior School
This last newsletter item brings many congratulations to all our new Year 12 students who have started their final school year so strongly. As a Year group, they demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and respect for each other, the College and themselves. I would like all students to reflect on the significant growth they have shown this year, academically, socially and personally. It would be a great conversation at home to chat with your daughter about this and reflect together on the determination, enthusiasm and care shown.
This week we acknowledged our new student leaders who will represent their year group across of areas in the College. We also presented the Term 4 Jacaranda Awards. These are very special awards presented to those who consistently live the College values. It is always such a positive presentation, as the Year group cheer and celebrate these students.
Congratulations to all House Leaders and Year 12 students involved in running and leading the House Competition held earlier this week. The enthusiasm and great sense of fun were infectious and it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon – watching all the dance moves, great singing and huge smiles.
It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge Mrs Melissa Boyd, as she leaves to take up her new role as Deputy Principal at MLC. I know she worked closely with many of your daughters in Upper School and she has continued to support and care for the Senior School community over the past few years. We all wish her well and know she will do a tremendous job.
Looking forward to 2023
With 2023 just around the corner, our planning of future community events has well and truly begun.
We are excited to be hosting an event celebrating the Dragonboat Festival in 2023.
We warmly invite the entire College community (siblings included) to celebrate our cultural diversity on June 22 at King Dynasty Restaurant, Chatswood with a banquet feast and plenty of activities for kids.
We’d also like to announce the dates of some of the most-anticipated yearly events at the College for early 2023:
• Icebreaker: Friday 24 February. This is a great opportunity for parents and carers to come together in early Term 1 to reconnect in a social setting.
• New Parent High Tea: Friday 24 March. This is a valuable opportunity to meet fellow parents and carers at the College in order to begin to forge friendships within their cohort. Further details for both events will soon be made available. All new parents and all Year 7 parents are invited to this fun event.
Finally, on behalf of the whole Senior School team, my very best wishes to all Senior School families for a very safe and happy Christmas break. If you are on the move, safe travels. Thank you so much for the support you have shown us – we look forward to a very positive and exciting 2023.
