Driving at the College
We ask that you please take the time to read this important information and abide by the College traffic rules at all times for the safety of our community.
We are privileged at Pymble to be situated within beautiful and expansive grounds. We are also fortunate that we have student drop-off and pick-up access to the College. However, this privilege brings responsibility for the safety and well-being of our children, parents and staff.
Unfortunately, we have had several reports of dangerous driver behaviour within the Pymble grounds. Speeding and overtaking at speed on the College roads and parking on pedestrian crossings and no-parking areas are some examples of recent dangerous behaviour that puts the safety of our children at risk as well as setting a poor example of behaviour for future drivers.
Pymble is a busy place and since the pandemic we have seen an increase in the number of cars driving to school which has meant heavy traffic on local roads and traffic congestion within and around the College.
We strongly encourage students to use public transport wherever possible and when age appropriate to school. The research is clear that making their own way to school benefits children socially, emotionally and physically. Equally importantly, it is much kinder to the environment.
Some critical reminders:
- The speed limit within the College is 20 km/h at all times
- Do not overtake at speed on the College roads
- Do not park on, next to or near pedestrian crossings
- Do not park in no-parking zones – you may only park in the designed drop-off or pick-up areas
- Picking up or dropping off children is not permitted at the lower boom gate near the Centenary Carpark
We thank you for your co-operation in keeping our community safe.
